Origins ...

Theresa, my Great Grandmother, is an enigma as the only record relating to her we have been able to find is the birth certificate of her son John.

John was born in Hartlepool, Co. Durham where there was, in the early 20th century, a small family of Peckett's whose family originally came from West Lilling in Yorkshire.

It's almost certain that the origins of the family are in Yorkshire as Peckett is very much a Tyke name.

The West Lilling area is one possibilty however another is the area around Dewsbury where there were quite a few Peckett's and we know that John settled in that area after he and my Grandmother seperated and divorced.
