Additional Information

| Census (1) | Listed as "Henry Gofton". This fits with Henry's subsequent appearances in the records as Henry Gofton rather than Henry Gofton McClemen although his full name was given on his marriage certificate in 1845 (in all likliehood this would have been because he was required to give his fathers name at the time of his marriage) |
| Residence (1) | Ballast Hills |
| Occupation (1) | Above is a literal transcription of the obscure entry in the 1841 census return. The closest translation that fits would be "Iron(works) Pattern Maker". |
| Residence (2) | Ballast Hills |
| Residence (3) | 2 Brougham St. |
| Residence (4) | William Street |
| Occupation (3) | I cannot make out the first word. It looks like Prifser which is nonsense. It certainly isn't "printer". |

Individual Note
After his marriage, Henry appears in the records as Henry Gofton. It is virtually certain that the Henry Gofton living in Ballast Hills in 1841 is our Henry suggesting he had already stopped using the name McClemen before his marriage (although, since he had to give his fathers name when he married, he is named as Henry Gofton McClemen on his marriage certificate)
