Additional Information
| Birth Registration | There is no birth registered of an Annie Reay in 1903. There is one birth
registered of an Annie Walker in Durham in 1903 however the certificate shows
her parents were Robert and Isabella Jane Walker (nee Wilson).
The known details of Annie Walkers parents eg; that her father and mother married after she was born, that her father was a coachman who died in Durham in 1912 and that her mother was a domestic cook who had previously been married to a Walmsley and had a daughter, Margaret, by that marriage make it certain beyond any shadow of a doubt that George Harry Thomas Walker and Jane Ellen Reay were the parents of Annie Walker. The most likely scenario is that the birth was not registered until some time after the birth, if at all (although Hilary Dykes, Annies daughter, is convinced that there was a birth certificate). The birth of an Annie Walker in Durham in Q2 1904 raises the possibility that her birth was registered a year late or that it was re-registered following the marriage of her parents. The certificate will be required to confirm whether this is the right Annie Walker. |
